Grief Support and Bereavement Programs
Hospice of Central Pennsylvania’s Bereavement Program offers a wide variety of both supportive and educational services for adults, children and adolescents. All of our bereavement services are available to the public even if your loved one wasn’t cared for by our agency. Click here for our support programs calendar.
We Offer
Supportive Mailings and Bereavement Newsletters
Periodic mailings sent to you (if you wish) containing information about the natural grief process and changes involved.
Our quarterly newsletter follows individuals throughout their grief journey.
Newsletters are mailed containing information on individual needs during their first year of grieving.
- Individual Visits
Bereavement staff provides personal meetings to individually talk about your concerns or how you are feeling.
- Phone Contacts
Our specially trained bereavement staff makes periodic calls to offer grief support.
- Support Groups
We offer a variety of support programs that are open to both the community as well as hospice families. Groups are offered for a loss that focuses on the death of a spouse, adult loss of a parent, loss of a child, and others as needed.

- Social Programs
Ladies Luncheon - monthly luncheon for women who have experienced the death of a spouse, life partner or significant other. Locations vary and include restaurants on the East and West shores.
Men’s Breakfast - monthly breakfast for men who have experienced the loss of a spouse, life partner or significant other. Locations vary from East to West Shore.
- Educational Series
We offer a wide variety of grief related educational programs that give information about grief and loss, provide healthy ways to mourn, and to find support and hope.
Information is provided in a series format throughout the year.
• Growing Through Grief Spring and Fall - 6 consecutive weeks with multiple locations
• Newly Bereaved Program - 3 consecutive week sessions, offered throughout the year
• Coping With The Holidays - Winter months, once a week for 3 sessions.
- Camp Dragonfly
Annual weekend bereavement camp for children and adolescents grieving the loss of a family member. Held early summer.

- Memorial/Remembrance Service
A special memorial/remembrance service is held annually for al the family members and loved ones to attend.
